Today seems like a Disney kinda day. Maybe I'm feeling nostalgic, but I just want to sit in front of the TV and pop VHS after VHS into the VCR and watch my childhood again.
Well, since I don't own a VCR or most of these on DVD, I guess watching medley videos of the music will have to do.
Ever wonder what your favorite songs would sound like in a minor key? YAOG has and he's discovered that it makes those songs sound sad.
It's amazing the difference in sound. Just take a listen
I'm not crying, you're crying...
These should be the losing screen songs.
Who knew that a minor key and slowing it down could take annoying songs and make them sound so much better? That seems to be the case with the next two
What about older stuff that we all know and love?
it's actually pretty amazing!
Now, if all this has gotten you down, I will end on a happier note. It seems you can do the opposite and make songs sound happier. Hopefully this will cheer you back up.
I'm not sure if you know or not, but Final Fantasy XIV (14) has just released a new expansion called Stormblood
and it is awesome!!!
Adam and I have been playing for over a year now and it's become an everyday part of our lives. The Final Fantasy games have always been a big part of our lives (even if we differ on which ones are the best) and it's nice that it can continue to do so for us as a couple.
So in honor of Stormblood, here are some lovely songs for you, because who doesn't love FF music?
This medley and the video are absolutely gorgeous! Not to mention that Lindsay brings our favorite characters to life so easily.
So I mentioned that Stormblood is out, but I'm going to go back to the previous expansion for a moment to feature this next song. Heavensward was a great expansion that had a sad story about a woman and a dragon who fall in love and how it ended in disaster for them.
They even included a song about it.
It's called Dragonsong
Adam asked me to learn it for him, so I've been working at it slowly. I found this great piano karaoke version of it that lets me practice.
you know, in case you want to learn it to
Now if you'll excuse me, I'm off to be the most adorable BLM ever
Roxie Sky will kablamo your ass and look adorable doing it
Every once and a while, something magical happens...
Okay, so maybe it's not magic, but just incredible editing skills. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. As is the case with this amazing video by Lindsay McCutcheon
I can't even begin to imagine how long that took to put together. It boggles my mind!
I've been on a bit of a Sailor Moon kick recently (okay, I'm always on a Sailor Moon kick) and I fell down the rabbit hole of YouTube one day and came across all these awesome videos, so I thought I'd share.
I love this video by Wildcats. It very much sums up Tuxedo Mask in the funniest way possible. Does he ever help? Not really. He's usually just there for encouragement.
Moonage Kingdom is an awesome group of Burlesque Dancers who were putting on a Sailor Moon Burlesque show in Vancouver. They made this amazing video as a promo for it. Man, I wish I could've seen the show
Cartoon Hangover gives us 107 facts that you may or may not have known about Sailor Moon
Animation Domination High-Def made this sad video about Sailor Pluto not being a planet anymore. It makes me laugh but makes me sad at the same time
These 2 great videos by Moon Animation Make-Up are the collaboration of many different artists redoing the stills to old Sailor Moon cartoons in their own style. They are incredible!
This is a fun cosplay video by JDP Media where the Scouts take on Sailor Iron Mouse and her snapping Goons. Yes, it's that good.
I've featured Saturday Morning Slow Jams on here before, but here is their take on the Sailor Moon theme song
Or maybe you're more into the classical take on Sailor Moon music like SERASYMPHONY produces.
I love this rule 63 cosplay video by Paolo Tuci. Just goes to show you that Sailor Moon is for everyone
I don't even know what to say about this video from STREETSTAR 2013 other than you need to watch it NOW!
Sometimes you need some Disney Magic in your life. Sometimes you need boys singing Disney tunes. It's just a fact of life.
Todrick Hall got the boys from IM5 together for these fun Disney Boy Band videos and I'm glad he did
I love the Ariel jump off. It really makes my day
So what do you think? Do you need to find your own Prince Charming to sweep you off your feet with song? Or are you just happy watching these Disney Dudez?
First up we have a great Tomb Raider Medley that spans 20 years of gameplay. This video has lots of costumes and set changes which makes me very happy
And if you didn't think her playing in the rain was great, check out her costumes changes as she regenerates through all of the Doctors in this Doctor Who theme
That was incredible!
But wait until you see this Nintendo piano! It even has the cords! Be still my heart!
So, did she take you through a jouney of pop culture? I know I was swept away.
Thanks to Nerd Approved who knows a great song when they hear one
Today is Election day in America and the whole World is scared. Being a Canadian while watching this happen, knowing your hands are tied, is really surreal. I mean, sure, you can voice your opinions on any social media platform that you'd like, but it's hard to know if that will make any difference at all.
But maybe this Celebrity cry out in a "We are the World" type song will manage to somehow get across to Americans how important it is for them to vote today
As you may have noticed by the title, this song is NSFW, but worth watching anyway
Celebrities come in all shapes and sizes, some we love, some we love to hate, and some go beyond our wildest expectations and give us great things.
I'm sure you all love Patrick Stewart. I mean, who doesn't? But this makes me love him even more.
Introducing Cowboy Pat!
Yes, that was just Patrick Stewart singing cowboy songs. And what's even better, is that you can buy the album for realsies at cdbaby. I know that seems weird, but it helps to know that all the proceeds from this silly album goes to the International Rescue Committee. As if we needed more of a reason to love this man.
Thanks to Nerd Approved who knows all the lyrics off by heart already.
Ever wonder what it would be like to live in a Pokemon World?
Pokemon GO has given us a glimpse of that, but walking around with our phones out isn't a true Pokexperience.
I have a feeling it would be much more like this
yes, the people over at Devin Super Tramp really know how to take on the full pokeparticipation
and it's not just Pokeomon they want to do in real life, but Assassin's Creed as well
Another fun real life video game parkour experience is this great video by Dark Pixel
and not so much video game, but awesome none the less is this free running video by Ronnie Street Stunts who just wants to be a real Jedi
Not that any of us can blame these guys for wanting to bring the imaginary into the everyday.
Man, I wish I could parkour like that! But I'm much more on the level of Wheezy Waiter
yup, that's about my level, although I'm not sure I can even run for that long :p
There's just something about this Master of Evil being the Master of his own destiny that appeals to me.
Skeletor can do anything and so can you!
And that includes Twerking. Yup, you read that right. Check out this awesome video of Skeletor dancing to his own groove
Also as a Bonus, in case Skeletor didn't convince you that you could do anything, here is a T-Rex pole-dancing. If he can do it with his tiny arms, you can do it too!
Okay, so maybe you were expecting some actual videos or something for Tunage Tuesday, but believe me, these comics by LiberLibelula are much, much better
And if that didn't have you dying of laughter, perhaps this one will
I'm sure like me, you are all still on a Star Wars kick after the release of The Force Awakens.
I love the ever present story of light vs. dark and the battles that come with it.
Well, today we are going to appreciate some of those duels in Musical form. So sit back and enjoy and cheer for your preferred side.
First Up, we have Taylor Davis vs. herself in this amazing violin medley
The Amazing people over at Player Piano have put together a beautiful medley, as well as these awesome SW pianos. It's a long video but totally worth watching
Kuma Films brings us this amazing video of how both the dark side and the light side train with lightsabers. It's very impressive
Whether you believe all that nonsense or not, it is Christmas time
As geeks, we tend to spend our Christmas time like the rest of the year, on the internet talking about the latest in Star Wars and other fun geeky stuff.
So today, I thought I'd combine the two together with some fun geeky/christmasy videos
yes, that was awesome! Go back and listen to it again. I know you want to
I guess this goes to show that not everyone celebrates the holiday the same way and that's okay as long as no one gets hurt
I said, no one gets hurt.... or we'll have to send Darth Santa to your house.
Anxiety is a normal human emotion that everyone experiences at times. Many people feel anxious, or nervous, when faced with a problem at work, before taking a test, or making an important decision. Anxiety disorders, however, are different. They can cause such distress that it interferes with a person's ability to lead a normal life.
An anxiety disorder is a serious mental illness. For people with anxiety disorders, worry and fear are constant and overwhelming, and can be crippling.
The exact cause of anxiety disorders is unknown; but anxiety disorders -- like other forms of mental illness -- are not the result of personal weakness, a character flaw, or poor upbringing. As scientists continue their research on mental illness, it is becoming clear that many of these disorders are caused by a combination of factors, including changes in the brain and environmental stress.
Like other brain illnesses, anxiety disorders may be caused by problems in the functioning of brain circuits that regulate fear and other emotions. Studies have shown that severe or long-lasting stress can change the way nerve cells within these circuits transmit information from one region of the brain to another. Other studies have shown that people with certain anxiety disorders have changes in certain brain structures that control memories linked with strong emotions.
Now, as you may have guessed by the descriptors above, I am one of the many people that suffer from a severe anxiety disorder. You may have noticed my lack of posting or the few references that I've made to medications or lack of focus or all sorts of other things.
I've been ashamed to admit if for awhile, as if having a mental illness makes me less of a person.
It's very hard to explain what having an anxiety disorder is like. People just don't understand and I've gotten some bad reactions.
Panic disorder: People with this condition have feelings of terror that strike suddenly and repeatedly with no warning. Other symptoms of a panic attack include sweating, chest pain, palpitations (unusually strong or irregular heartbeats), and a feeling of choking, which may make the person feel like he or she is having a heart attack or "going crazy."
Ever tip your chair back so far you think it's going to tip over? Lied to someone and gotten caught?Forgot an important project was due and your boss is asking for it?
You know that moment of panic you feel, that stab in your chest, your heart beating faster, the shortness of breath. That's what a panic attack feels like, but instead of only lasting a moment, mine last anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour.
You'll usually find me curled up in a corner, crying, shaking and clutching my chest, hoping I'm not dying. Yeah, not much fun.
When this happens, it makes pretty much anything else impossible, I can't go to work, I can't go the the grocery store, I can't even leave the house.
I love this picture because it really captures the feel of what it's like to try and get past an obstacle so huge as a mental disorder. I feel like there is a monster in my doorway, just daring me to try and get past.
That being said, I work all the time on trying to cope with this disorder and I find that music is often helpful. I often try and sing to myself when having a panic attack to try and latch on to something else other than panic. Here are a few of my go-to songs:
High Anxiety - Mell Brooks
I know it seems weird to have a song performed by Mel Brooks be on this list, but I do find it really helpful. I also change up the lyrics a little bit to make myself feel better. instead of "It's very clear to me I've got to give in. High anxiety: you win." I sing "It's clear to me, I've paid my dues. High anxiety: you loose."
I guess something about changing the power dynamics gives me a bit more control.
Chillout - Ze Frank
Okay, so listening to this song makes me cry, but it is my go-to song when my anxiety starts to act up. And that, of course, was exactly why it was written. Ze Frank talks about it in his TedTalk presentation (the whole thing is worth watching, but the part I'm talking about starts at 13:34. It takes a minute to get into, but again, it's worth watching)
It's songs like these that remind me, that this isn't who I am, this is just something that is happening to me and that's a HUGE difference.
Angels - Robbie Williams
This song reminds me that there are amazing people in my life who understand and care for me. These wonderful people who stand by me and lift me up when I can't do it on my own.
I always loved that song from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, but I love it even more with Lindsey Stirling, Josh Groban and the Muppets involved
Wasn't that wonderful? Are you going to have that song stuck in your head for the rest of the day?
If that's a bad thing, trying having the Pokemon theme stuck in there instead, also preformed by Lindsay Sterling
