Celebration Europe - Episode IV

Well here we are, the final day of an absolutely awesome weekend. I have to say the atmosphere has been incredible. Thousands of people from around the world gathered in one place to share their passion for Star Wars






Once again there were shows on, chats with stars of the films, and events for people to get involved in. Along with artists selling prints and hand drawn items there was a row of tattoo artists plying their trade and allowing people to show their love of Star Wars in a rather permanent way

Today was more packed than usual as everyone took advantage of the last day of the con. There were families with children, and even an expectant mother dressed as Padme Amidala from Episode II. Sadly she informed me she wasn't having twins.



In the Grugahalle Warwick Davies was entertaining the Fett-tastic Four. Daniel Logan, Jeremy Bulloch (who turned up dressed in his 501st Boba Fett costume),Dickey Beer and John Morten talkied about what it was like to play the baddest Bounty Hunter in the galaxy



Whilst all this was going on there were other activities going on including being shown how to build your own droid, hosted by the R2D2 Builders Club and a trivia competition where the public were able to compete for the right to be called Worlds Most Knowledgeable Fan.





Throughout the weekend there had been various activities, far too many to go to all at once. Everything from collectors seminars to costuming to Star Wars around the world, there was something for everyone.





So then we came to the last show of the day, and they'd saved the best for last. Everyone met inside the Grugahalle to see Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker himself, take the stage. Mark talked about his role in Star Wars, looking forward to what the future will bring, and regaled the audience with anecdotes including the fact he recorded a voiceover for an unaired episode of the Clone Wars and also revealed he thought that Luke was only going to hit the Wampa a glancing blow in ESB but only found out in Post Production that they had decided to cut its whole arm off. Poor Wampa!



And then that was it. We had the closing ceremony where we all got to look back at an amazing Celebration Europe and where it was announced that that Celebration VII would be coming to Anaheim, California!!

That's right folks, put the date in your diary. 16th to 19th April 2015, with tickets going on sale 8th August this year





And that was it. I said goodbye to a lot of people who I met and headed back to my hotel room tired but happy. This was my first Celebration and I expected it to be my last but after experiencing such an indescribable atmosphere I'll definitely be going to Anaheim in 2015. I hope I'll see you there

Wow! What an ending. I'm sad that it's over. I think I could happily live vicariously through Caelien forever. These last few days have been fun for me, getting updates and pictures while everything is going on. It was almost as if I were there instead of at work photocopying (a girl can dream...) Maybe if I dream big and manage to save some money I can meet up with him a Celebration VII in a few years. If not, hopefully he will grace this blog once again for another great, first hand look at the World Of Star Wars cons.

Star Wars Vs. Everything Else

Ever notice that a lot of movies are similar? Think Pocahontas and Avatar; same story, just with large blue people.

Well, people like to compare all sorts of different movies, especially with Star Wars.

I will admit, most of these are pretty uncanny. But it also puts together a great dynamic. If it ain't broke, don't fix it :p

Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill Audition Taps

Aren't you glad that Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford were cast in Star Wars? I know I am. I just can't imagine anyone else playing these iconic roles as well as they did.

Who knows, perhaps if they had been played by other actors the movie might not have done as well as it did. 

Thank goodness they did well in their auditions.

I love this video! I wish they had kept this part of the scrip for the movie. It really does explain a lot, like why Leia lead the Imperials to Yavin 4.

Again, you get a neat perspective on both Luke and Han that wasn't in the movie. I like that Organa-Major was blown up and not Alderaan (which nobody dares go near), as well as the fact that Mark calls his Hans.

There are only a few short clips of Harrison Ford auditioning, but really you get more from him in these 2 tapes than from anything else I saw.

Auditioning is hard, but these 3 are as cool as cucumbers through it. Yay for them and an even bigger yay for us to see them together.

Star Wars Geek Chic

Love Star Wars? Want to show your geeky pride, but aren't into graphic t's or cosplay? Well, these outfits are for you.

The girls of Disney Bound came up with a great idea; take traditional character costumes and recreate them with regular clothes. They mostly do Disney outfits, but every once in a while, they take on other, more geekier genres; like Star Wars.

I really love the Padme outfits. But then her outfits have always been my favorite. The red and gold always signify royalty to me and it's very reminiscent of her throne room outfit (my all time favorite!)

The Princess Leia outfits are subtle and soft; which is true for her outfits, if not her personality. 

These Luke Skywalker outfits have the elegance of a jedi knight while still having a comfortable farm boy feeling.

Can you feel the fashion power of the dark side? I love the Stormtrooper outfit! I would wear that everywhere!

If these are the droid duds you're looking for, I can see why! I love the shine and glitter that these to outfits have, but if it were me, I'd add some detail belts to the middle to give them a more authentic look.

Whether hanging out in the swamps of Dagobah or rubbing shoulders with politicians and jedi in Coruscant, there's a Yoda outfit for you! I love both these outfits so much!

For those of us who have Boba Fett-ishes, these are great, everyday outfits. I actually own a Boba Fett inspired outfit. It consists of a yellow t-shit that I wear under a moss green tank top. I love it!

 Now how cute would these be with my Boba Fett bag?

Got Blue Milk?

Force to be reckoned with.... snicker...

After years and years of celebrity milk ads, I suppose it makes sense that someone would make a blue milk ad. I always wondered what blue milk was made from. According to Wookieepedia, it's bantha milk.

You know, these guys

Doesn't looking at his fine creature make you want a glass? I suppose you'd probably get a lot more milk out of a bantha than you would a cow. But I guess you would need more if you were going to export it to the rest of the galaxy.
