The Princess Is IN: Super Mario Bros. Wreath

Every once and awhile, I need to craft. Something comes over me and I can't rest until I've made something fun and new. This often comes in the form of a wreath. It's easy, I can change them as much as I want to suit the time of year. I love it. But last year, the year of the Dumpster Fire; 2020, I just could not come up with anything to be excited about.
Then I found this awesome castle wood piece at the local fabric store and finally had an idea.

Level 1-1

Who doesn't love Super Mario Bros.?

This entire craft was done with felt, craft paint, E600 glue, a skewer, an old crappy frame and a wooden castle.
It's been hanging outside in lieu of wreath since the fall and it's still holding together great! I may even go back to buy some more castles and do other levels too.

Tunage Tuesday - Will It Sad?

Ever wonder what your favorite songs would sound like in a minor key? YAOG has and he's discovered that it makes those songs sound sad.
It's amazing the difference in sound. Just take a listen

I'm not crying, you're crying...

These should be the losing screen songs.

Who knew that a minor key and slowing it down could take annoying songs and make them sound so much better? That seems to be the case with the next two

What about older stuff that we all know and love?

it's actually pretty amazing!

Now, if all this has gotten you down, I will end on a happier note. It seems you can do the opposite and make songs sound happier. Hopefully this will cheer you back up.

Saint Pop Culture

Now, I'm not usually one who talks about religion or politics, but I thought that these amazing statues were too amazing not to share. These are suppose to be fun and contemplative and are not meant as a slight to anyone
Whether you are religious or not, you have to admit that pop culture has become something that people worship. Soasig Chamaillard took this idea and brought it to life with her pop culture statues. Here's what she has to say about them:

"I grew up in a Christian Western society. My perspective on life has been a result of my environment and background.
The playful interaction of society’s many icons, physical transformations, and the resulting improbable combinations, have culminated in my vision of a woman’s role and place in our society.
This inner questioning of a woman’s role, has led me to use one of the most sacred icons in my work, namely, the Virgin Mary.
Initially, I begin with damaged statues, either donated or discovered in garage sales, which I then restore and transform.
I surely do not mean to chock those who believe but rather to move those who see."

I see what she is trying to say and the art that follows is blowing my mind

It's no surprise to me that our fanatical devotion to our fandoms have led to something like this.
So, which alter do you bow to?

Tunage Tuesday - Pokemon Parkour And More

Ever wonder what it would be like to live in a Pokemon World?
Pokemon GO has given us a glimpse of that, but walking around with our phones out isn't a true Pokexperience.

I have a feeling it would be much more like this

yes, the people over at Devin Super Tramp really know how to take on the full pokeparticipation

and it's not just Pokeomon they want to do in real life, but Assassin's Creed as well

Another fun real life video game parkour experience is this great video by Dark Pixel

and not so much video game, but awesome none the less is this free running video by Ronnie Street Stunts who just wants to be a real Jedi

Not that any of us can blame these guys for wanting to bring the imaginary into the everyday.
Man, I wish I could parkour like that! But I'm much more on the level of Wheezy Waiter

yup, that's about my level, although I'm not sure I can even run for that long :p

How about you? What's your parkour level?

Happy Eggster... I Mean Easter

It's an egg-cellent time for some fun, festive frivolities!
Easter is this weekend and everyone is getting together to wait for the Big Bunny to bring chocolate. But while we wait, maybe we should decorate some geeky eggs!

Don't have any ideas? Check out these amazing eggs for some inspiration!

These eggs by Red-Flare really show the free-range that you can take with your decorating

I'm loving the old school Batman (TAS) eggs. The Bat symbol is perfection

Gotta catch em all before your little cousin finds them

These fantastic eggs by Pysanky are done in the traditional Ukrainian way involving wax and dipping and they are super impressive

I can't even imagine how long these must take to make. Best grab my egg timer

I didn't even know that I needed Stargate eggs in my life until this moment...

These eggs by How About Orange may be simple, but they look really cool

One can never go wrong with Pokemon eggs by Yaltro

I can't even decide which one is my favorite

lmnopeas likes to kick it old school with these Super Mario Bros. eggs.

I love the controller and Bullet Bill is awesome

I know Oh What Fun was just having fun with mustaches, but they totally remind me of The Beatles from Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band

I guess it goes to show that there is an egg out there for everyone

Have a happy Easter and remember to take it (over) easy

Thursday Threads - Geek Pajamas

It's getting cold outside
sigh...

I don't like the cold much, but I do love curling up in a warm pair of pajamas, a cup of coco and a good book, so I guess that makes up for it.
As a geek girl, I find it difficult to find fun geeky pajamas, well, I use to. Now thanks to the glory of the internets, I can now find them, if not with ease, at least much easier. Since I don't want you to have to go through the trouble I did, I've complied all the awesome pj's that I found and where to buy them. You're welcome

Target has just recently come to Canada, and although they're not doing as well as Zellers use to, I'm happy that they carry a great selection of geeky clothes for girls

Look! you can even get a matching outfit for your baby dog!

I am in love with these Mario themed pj's! I really want all of them!

These are really cute with their matching sleep masks

I'm also really glad that they've finally taken notice that girls like comics too

I want a Care Bear onesie!!!

You pretty much always know that you're going to find great stuff here, and pajamas are no exception

I changed my mind! I want the new Batgirl onesie instead!

I wasn't going to post just pants, but the ombre effect of these are just too cool not to.

Biowear

While writing my N7 Day post, I came across these beauties. I wish they had a dog version of this too. I would totally get them for Adam, the cat and I. I guess I'd have to make one for the chinchilla though....

I want to get lost in these onesies and never come out! They just seem perfect for a cold day spent inside playing video games

I seriously can't decided which ones I love the most!

What better place to go to look for pajamas than HT. They always have something fun

The Warehouse

Before this I had never heard of The Warehouse, but I'm glad that I have now. I mean, just look at the fun stuff you can find!

It's Batman! And frilly! Frilly Batman!!!!!
And Wondy!!! This is what geek pajamas need more of

Okay, so these 2 aren't geeky, but look how cute they are!

Bluenotes

I never really think to look at Bluenotes for geek clothes, but they've been getting more and more in the last few years

How cute is that Yoda onesie?

Jumpin Jammerz

I really like the N7 set, but maybe one of these sets would be better?

Oh, it's so hard to choose!

Torrid

For those of you out there who, like me, have some extra curves to love, I present to you Torrid! I'd never heard of this company before, but I've very excited about it!
No longer are we to be confined to geek clothes that were made for the tiny people. These are meant for us and made to still look amazing and geeky! I love it!

Fun, sexy, geeky!

I'll take one of each please

So much love for Star Wars! Hooray!

Primark

Again, here is a company I've never heard of before, but I want to own everything from!
Especially the Star Wars pj's

I like that the "I woke up like this" set actually has her looking silly. I don't know about you, but I don't wake up looking perfect and don't believe anyone who says that they do.

Topshop

Not a big selection of geeky stuff, but what they did have was great!

Look at the Christmas Ken set! Just look at it! Amazing!

Something Geeky

These sets are simple, but they say geek just as well as full print

So, how are you planning on staying warm and cosy this winter?
