You may not know this, but I suck at video games. I don't have very good hand/eye coordination so I have trouble jumping and shooting at things. I'm not good at combos and prefer to button mash. I'm actually pretty good at button mashing. I need games to have infinite lives if I ever hope to finish the game. Sometimes it just becomes too hard and I give up. Don't get me wrong, I love video games, I just suck at them.
Then The world was introduced to LEGO games. Games that are made for children are totally up my skill ally. I've played all the Star Wars, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones and Batman LEGO games and I love them.
Lucky for me, two more games are about to be released!
I am really looking forward to this game! I loved playing as Batman before and I can hardly wait to be wonder Woman, The Flash and Green Lantern! I also hope that I get to play as Lex Luthor as well. I could care less about Superman, but I'm sure he'll be fun to play too.
I'm really glad that they stuck to Gotham and just added all the other characters.
ehehehehehehehehe! This looks awesome! I want to play as Gandalf! I love how closely they've stuck to the movie, but incorporated them being LEGO so well. I hope they come out with an actual LEGO set that comes with the Balrog!
Is it just me or is it weird that the characters can suddenly speak? I liked when they mimed everything, but the voices are fun too.
Speaking of video games, have you seen the latest Disney trailer for Wreck-It Ralph? But Braeby, you ask, what does Disney have to do with video games?
well, watch and find out.
I really want to see this movie, mostly for the villain support group! I think it's great that Disney has gotten the rights to use all those other characters for this. I can't wait to see what else they put in. I also think it will be neat to see how they show different video games through out the years.
I love action movies. They might even be my favorite genre of film. Being a girl, I get a lot of weird looks about this, but I don't care; action movies are awesome.
Not to mention they usually have hot, well muscled guys running around in them, so there's an added bonus.
Two franchises that I love are soon to release new movies! YAY!!!
James Bond - 007
I've been a huge Bond fan since I first saw The Spy Who Loved Me in English Media class in high school. I've always wanted to be a Bond Girl, but then again, what girl hasn't. I went so far as to make up my own Bond Girl name; Candy KaBoom and I would also play her evil twin sister Coco KaBang.
I've loved pretty much ever incantation of Bond (especially Sean
Connery) and Daniel Craig is no exception to the rule. I am a bit sad
that this will be his final Bond movie, but I'm glad that they at least
gave him one more to do.
Jason Bourne
I loved the first 3 Bourne movies... Ok, I loved the plots of the first 3 Bourne movies. Unfortunately the camera in the last few were so shaky that I could hardly watch them! I still really enjoyed them though, I just wish I could watch them without getting a headache. Matt Damon is totally hot, but so is Jeremy Renner!
After seeing him in the Avengers and in Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, I'm totally stoked about seeing him in more movies, especially action movies.
Oh yes, hot men in action movies! I'm totally excited! Are you?
Does anyone remember Frankenweenie? Of course you don't. No one does.
Well, except maybe hardcore Tim Burton fans and, of course, maybe me.
Now don't think I'm a crazy fan, at least not in this case; the only reason I know about this movie was because it was in the extra features of my Nightmare Before Christmas VHS. I discovered it one day when I let the movie run through the credits instead of just turning it off and rewinding it. It also came with an amazing short called Vincent, about a boy who thought he was Vincent Price.
Frankenweenie wasn't a very good short film, but maybe that was because it was live action. Anyway, Mr. Burton has decided to remake the movie using his ever so loved stop motion animation style.
One of Burton’s first projects, Frankenweenie is a black and
white short film about young Vincent, whose dog Sparky dies after being
hit by a car. Vincent is, of course, saddened by the death of his dear
pet, but luckily, soon after, his science class is shown how to
reanimate a dead frog with the use of a battery and some wires. Vincent
digs up Sparky, and applies the principles learned in science class to
bring Sparky back to life. If you are fortunate enough to own the 2000 Special Edition DVD set of The Nightmare Before Christmas, then you’ll likely have seen Frankenweenie in
the Bonus Features section. If you haven’t, or if you don’t have the
DVD, I highly recommend checking out the short. It’s a half hour of
typical Burton, featuring such talents as Shelley Duvall (a.k.a. the mom
in The Shining) and a thirteen-year-old Sofia Coppola. It has been 25 years since Tim Burton made Frankenweenie,
but the ever-intriguing writer/director/producer has decided the time
has come to revisit his early project. While the original Frankenweenie was a live-action short film, Burton’s vision for the update is a full-length stop-motion film. - atomic popcorn
The child in this (incidentally name Vincent) looks almost the exact same as the one in the short Vincent. But then again, they both look like they are going to grow up and look like Victor from Corpse Bride.
What is it with Tim Burton and his characters all looking the same? All his animated characters look the same and all of his live action characters all look the same... oh wait.. that's because they're all played by Johnny Depp and Helen Bonham Carter...
Which, on a surprising note, neither of them are doing voices in this movie! Hooray!!!
Don't get me wrong, I love both of them as actors, but it is getting boring to watch them play weird, eccentric characters. Hopefully this will start a new, non-Johnny/Helen reign of awesomeness, but I think at this point, it's still too early to tell.
If you're interested in checking out the original movie, here you go!
and for those that want to see some truly wonderful Tim Burton work, here is Vincent.
Enjoy.
Thanks to The Mary Sue for this teeny-weenie bit of info :P
However in the picture, Jake is Iron Man instead of Hulk. So this could be an inspiraton for MAD to create this segment.
The Avenger crew turned mostly like this:
1. Captain America as Finn
2. Hulk as Jake
3. Iron Man as Lumpy Space Princess (LSP)
4. Thor as Muscle Princess (possibly)
Finn and Jake mostly turned like this:
1. Finn as a super powered Batman
2. Jake as the Thing
Other Dimensions included were:
1. The Avengers Dimension
2. The Marvel Super Heroes (1960's)
3. Super Hero Squad Show
4. Adventure Time Dimension
Red Skull had two bandages on his forehead.
The title of Avenger Time looked similar to Adventure Time.
The Ice King in this segment almost sounded similar to the Ice
King in Adventure Time, because he is voiced by Tom Kenny, but the Ice
King looks different.
When Ice King freezes Captain America in a block of ice, Iron
Man remarks that he cannot stop getting frozen, but this is actually a
reference to when Captain America gets frozen in a block of ice during
World War II and gets unfrozen during the 21st century.
The scene where Captain America meets the Watcher on the moon
is a reference to the pilot episode of Adventure Time, where Finn meets
Abraham Lincoln on Mars after the Ice King froze him.
The Watcher's voice seems similar to Gazpacho, Master Shake and
Mr. Baldwin from Chowder, Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Fish Hooks
respectively, because they are voiced by Dana Synder.
Captain America's voice is similar to Chris Griffin from Family Guy.
Antagonists: Red Skull and Ice King
Second time Adventure Time gets spoofed. The first time was from Malcolm in the Middle Earth.
I've never actually seen Adventure Time, but I hear it's amazing and I really do want to watch it.
Speaking of The Avengers, have you guys seen the new Trailer yet?
YAY! It looks so great! I can't wait to see it! I do hope that they actually let Hawkeye speak at some point. So far he's gotten the shaft in all the trailers.
I mentioned in an earlier post that 2012 is going to be an awesome year for movies!
Here are some new trailers for awesome looking movies, to give us more of an idea of what we can expect to see come movie time.
The Amazing Spider-man
I've always been a huge Spider-man fan, that is until the last 3 movies came out. Although I kind of enjoyed the movies, the Spider-man that I knew and loved slowly slipped away. It wasn't until I re-read Marvel Civil War, that I remembered how much I loved him. I'm really hoping that this new movie does him justice. I am super stoked that Gwen Stacy is the love interest and not Mary Jane, for once. I'm also excited that the villain is The Lizard! Not someone you see very often. (I always mix him up with Killer Croc)
The Avengers
This trailer fills my heart with school girl glee! I've been waiting since Civil War to see Steve and Tony interact on screen! Their chemistry is amazing!
Squee!
Clint, Natasha, Bruce and Thor look amazing, but don't say anything, so it's hard to grasp what they'll be like and as far as I'm concerned, Nick Fury aka Samuel L. Jackson as himself talks too much. But that's a rant for another day.
Here's hoping that this movie is amazing and they decide to make a Civil War movie. I would love that sooo much!
Shortly before Christmas, my best friend and I went to to the new Twilight movie. Yes, yes, grimace all you want, it was pretty lame. But one good thing did come out of going; we saw this:
Yes, The Hunger Games Trailer. A lot of different blogs and sites that I go to had been mentioning The Hunger Games in posts, saying that it was an amazing series, but I had absolutely no idea what it was even about. As the trailer ended, my friend and I looked at each other and simultaneously agreed that we needed to go see it. Shortly after we both picked up the first book.
If you've read them, you'll understand why I read the first book in 3 sittings. The day I finished the first book, I ran to the nearest book store and bought books two and three, which I devoured in even less time. Now I'm even more excited about the movie coming out than I was before!
Now, as books are turned into movies, wonderful things happen in the world of merchandising. As you may attest frompreviousposts, I especially love when girly things like make-up and nail polish are involved; especially nail polish!
When I found out that there was talk about a Hunger Games nail polish line I was totally stoked! I mean, just check out those colours!
The names of these are AMAZING! Someone really knows their stuff! Oh wait... they didn't go with those names at all...
Here are the real names, based on The Capitol
Now, I know that in the books, nowhere but in the Capitol would you see anyone wearing something like nail polish, but to be honest, naming them after the Capitol and the 12 Districts is totally lame.
Dress Me Up: District 8, Textiles
Fois Gras: District 10, Livestock
Fast Track: District 6, Transportation
Hook and Line: District 4, Fishing
Stone Cold: District 2, Masonry
Smoke and Ashes: District 12, Coal Mining
Agro: District 11, Agriculture
Mahogany Magic: District 7, Lumber
Harvest Moon: District 9, Grain
Riveting: District 3, Technology/Mechanics
Electrify: District 5, Power
Luxe and Lush: District 1/The Capitol, Luxury
I don't want to wear Harvest Moon or Agro, but I would totally wear Cinna-mon or We Could Runaway. And be still my beating heart when I see Baker's Son, whereas Mahogany Magic is one of the lamest nail polish names I've ever heard, even from non-licensed brands. Don't get me wrong, I love China Glaze and their polishes, but they, like OPI are usually so clever with their names.
Further research of this change of names lead me to finding out that there was much more involved to this situation.
Los Angeles-based American International Industries, which says it is
the country's largest privately-held manufacturer of personal care and
beauty products, filed a lawsuit Wednesday in LA Superior Court. The
company claims that it closed a deal in late October to create a Hunger Games-branded
version of its "China Glaze" nail polish, as well as contribute to the
promotional campaign for the adaptation of the popular Suzanne Collins novel that Lionsgate is hoping will be a mega-blockbuster movie series similar to Twilight. But shortly after Lionsgate executives signed the contract, according
to the complaint, the studio made statements to the press that the deal
was "not happening," and asked American to say that the parties "were
merely 'discussing' a 'possible' promotional deal." American says it
refused to lie, prompting a Lionsgate attorney to send an email on Nov.
17 saying that the studio was "terminating" the contract. "However, the contract does not permit Lionsgate to unilaterally
terminate," argues the complaint, a copy of which was obtained by THR.
"Lionsgate attempted to justify its actions by claiming that American
had supposedly 'leaked' information about the contract to the press. The
claim was and is completely untrue--American did not 'leak' any
information, and so informed Lionsgate immediately." - The Hollywood Reporter
It still don't know why they didn't keep the names from the beginning, but I guess in the end it doesn't really matter. I hope that if they decide to make all the books into movies, then we can expect more to the point nail polish with better names. I think truly, I just want a Finnick nail polish. Just me?
Will I buy The Hunger Games nail polish? As I said, I'm not as excited about it now as I was when I first came across it, but will that stop me from buying it? I'm honestly undecided. If I do decide to buy it, I may remake the labels so that they have the original names on them. That way I really can say I'm wearing Heat Of The Moment.
Well another New Years has come and passed and we begin our journey into 2012.
What's there to look forward to when the World is suppose to end this year?
Well, awesome movies for one thing.
2012 looks like it's going to be a pretty fun year at the theater and here are some trailers to prove it.
The Hobbit
My Dad first introduced me to JRR Tolkien when I was about 10 years old. He was rereading The Lord Of The Rings for probably the 6th or 7th time and I wanted to know what it was about. So he told me. It was a bit of a big read for me at that age, so he suggested that we read it together, but first, we had to read the Hobbit. We spend over a year reading it together and my love of fantasy novels was born.
Although I loved the Trilogy that they made a few years ago, I still have mixed feelings about the whole thing, mostly due to merchandising, but that's a post for another day. Will I go see this in theaters? Very much yes, most likely with my Dad. Will I go see it opening day? Seems very unlikely.
The Dark Knight Rises
The final movie to the wonderful trilogy comes to an end with The Dark Knight Rises. Now I'm a huge Batman fan. He's one of my all time favorite heroes. I love his dark gritty nature and lack of super powers. Between his team of bats and birds and his awesome Rouges Gallery, they never cease to put a smile on my face. Bane has been one of my all time favorite Batman villains, ever since broke Batman's back in Knightfall. When they cast him in Batman And Robin and made his into a mindless strongman, I was pissed. So I really hope that Nolan does him well. What am I saying? This is the man who brought us one of the best Joker's and Two-Face's I've ever seen. He even made Ra's al Ghol less sucky than usual. I think he'll do us proud with Bane.
Will I go see it in theaters? Hell Yes! Will I go see it opening day? It's quite likely.
G.I. Joe: Retaliation
I can't help it, I'm a G.I. Joe Fan. Yes, even after the last movie. I can't help it; I've got a soft spot for Cobra Command.
It's hard to believe that they're making another movie, but hey, it might be good? maybe? It's got Bruce Willis in it, and The Rock! Not to mention Channing Tatumis it it again and he's always worth looking at. With no Marlon Wayans as bad comic relief it might actually be good! If nothing else it looks like it'll be a good action flick, and lord knows I love a good action flick!
Not to mention I love the electronica remix of Seven Nation Army they've got playing in the trailer.
Will I go see it in theaters? Seems likely. Will I see it opening day? Will anyone?
Snow White And The Huntsman
I've always loved the story of Snow White. What can I say, I grew up as a Disney kid and loved everything about princesses. But as I've gotten older, I find I like a bit of a twist to my princesses and fairy tales. This is no exception. It looks awesome! I'm not a huge Kristan Stewart fan, but I do love Chris Hemsworth and Charlize Tharon and they are the 2 that I want to see the movie for. Especially Charlize Tharon as the Wicked Queen
Will I go see this in theaters? Yes, very much yes. Will I go see it opening day? Probably not, but we'll see.
Brave
Speaking of being a Disney kid, I'm so excited about the upcoming Disney/Pixar movie! I know most girls want a princess that they look like and I think this is going to be my best chance. I mean, when are they ever going to make another princess with curly red hair and blue eyes? Not to mention my own Scottish heritage. Ok, so I'm probably 3rd or 4th generation Canadian, but my roots are Scottish on 3 sides of my family (both parents on my Dad's side and 1 on my Mom's side) so this is kind of exciting for me.
Will I got see it in theaters? Yes. Will I go opening day? no, but maybe the day after.
So, what movies are you looking forward to this year?
It's time to meet The Muppets on the Muppet Show Tonight!
It's time to put on make-up...
It's time to dress up right...
It's time to raise the curtain on The Muppet Show Tonight!
To introduce our guest star is what I'm here to do...
So it really makes me happy to introduce to you
The one and only BRAEBY! YAAAY!
And now let's get things started
Why don't you get things started
It's time to get things started
On the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, Muppetational
This is what we call the Muppet Show!
(Gonzo blows his trumpet)
Oh, how I love the Muppets... let me count the ways...
Actually that would take way to long to do :P
Ever since I was a child, I have always loved the Muppets. They fill my head with laughter and make my heart swell with love.
I'm on a total Muppets kick right now, so you can imagine my excitement when I found out that they've not only made a new Muppets movie, that's due out next month, but they've also released an OPI nail polish line to go with it!
I can't even tell you how much squealing with glee I did when I first saw this, because it's almost too embarrassing to say!
Not only do I love the Muppets, but to know that Jason Segal and Amy Adams are in it makes me even more happy! Not only does Jason Segal star in the movie, he also wrote it, saying "I'm not an arrogant dude, but to be even the tiniest footnote in the
Muppets lineage is nuts to me. That is insane! So I feel very honored."
He even helped create the newest member of the Muppet team; Walter. "Nick Stoller and I did. We wrote the script together, he's my writing
partner. We invented Walter! We did not get to design him physically
because then they would owe us a lot of money. So we came up with him on
paper and then they were very clear that we could not be involved in
any aspect in the physical design of Walter. But it is pretty crazy when
I saw him and I knew he was born in our brains. It's like Nick and I
had a little baby — with our brains." - Pop Sugar
Yes, this is the type of man you can proudly take home to your Momma.
As if this whole thing wasn't awesome enough, OPI has come out with a Muppet line of nail polishes to kick off the movie with!
I love nail polish; especially OPI and especially when it's sparkly! The fact that it's designed with the Muppets in mind is just the icing on the cake for me! I must own them all!!
Check out the names of these great colours!
Since I can't afford to buy them all at once, I have to try and pick which ones I like the best! This is really hard for me! I definitely need Fresh Frog of Bel Air, Rainbow Connection, Warm and Fozzy, Gone Gonzo and Excuse Moi!; you know, to start with :P
If you live in Canada, like me, you can order it here.
Now, I mentioned earlier that I'm on a total Muppets kick right now. Interestingly enough, this has nothing to do with either the movie or the nail polish. I was having a low day, a few months ago, so I threw on my iPod and went for a walk. As I walked, "It's Not Easy Being Green" came on, and then came on again right after, even though I had it on shuffle! If you're a Muppets fan, you will of course know this song, but for those who don't, here it is.
It gets me every time and makes me realize that things are never as bad as they seem, it's all about perspective and looking at the good in life instead of
the bad. I had this song stuck in my head for weeks after, which lead me
to listen to other Muppet music like "The Rainbow Connection",
"Just One Person",
And then, of course, if you're a Robin fan like I am, "Half Way Down The Stairs"
I love Robin so much! Almost as much as I love Kermit!
So after having all this music stuck in my head, I came across The Green Album
Yes, it's those songs and many more done by artists like Weezer, The Fray, Amy Lee and many others. It's awesome! All the songs are really well done, which I was a little worried about when I first picked it up.
This, of course, then got me even more into a Muppets kick then I already was, so I had to go out and buy the first 3 seasons of The Muppet Show, which I have been just loving!
It has some of the best jokes from the show and movies. I read it cover to cover when it came in on my birthday. I've got it sitting along side my other favorite Muppets book "It's Not Easy Being Green And Other Things To Consider" which I found at Hallmark last Christmas.
Not only did my Dad buy me the book, but he also drew me a picture to go along with it!
(I thought I had a better picture of it, but it's on my other computer which still hasn't been fixed yet! Anyway, here it is hanging in my old apartment on my Princess and Frog wall)
I've also been reading Muppet comics that I found at the grocery store that have turned out to be pretty good.
As for crafting, I've come up with some really cute Muppet ideas, but haven't found the right fabric to make them work yet. But depending on what I can find this week, there very well might be a Muppet Halloween costume in my future! Wish me luck!
Life's like a movie, write your own ending
Keep believing, keep pretending
We've done just what we set out to do.
Thanks to the lovers, the dreamers, and you.
This trailer just gave me chills, made my heart beat faster and stop beating all at once. This was by far my favorite book of the series and I can't wait until this movie comes out!
