Minnie Mouse Nails It

One of my role models has always been Minnie Mouse. I love her charm and smile, her unconditional love and optimism, her kindness and hope. She's everything that I've always wanted to be; well, except maybe a mouse.

When I was a kid, I thought that because I have a widow's peak and so did she, that meant that maybe we were somehow related.
In second grade, my awesome Mom made me a Minnie Mouse dress, that I'm pretty sure I didn't take off until I outgrew it. I'm wearing it even for my class picture that year. I've actually been thinking about remaking that dress, but in a bigger size, so that I once again can wear it.
The following year, Minnie Mouse came to my birthday party! There are very few times in my life that I have been that excited.

When I interviewed at the Disney Store a few years back, when the question of who your favorite character was, everyone else just said the names of theirs. I told a story about how and why I loved Minnie Mouse. While I worked there, I was often wearing Minnie Ears and usually had a Minnie shirt on under my work shirt.

I even had a Minnie Mouse cookbook growing up. It helped my fall in live with baking.
My plan for another tattoo is Minnie Mouse's bow (red with white polka dots) on my wrist, to remind me to be a good person and always believe in Magic.

Anyway, the reason for this post, before I got all sentimental on you, was that OPI is releasing a Vintage Minnie Mouse nail polish line! YAY!

From left to right; Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It, I'm All Ears, If You Moust You Moust, and The Color of Minnie.

I love all the colours, or perhaps it's better to say, the variations of pink. I love pink, but I'm a little shocked that they only used pink. Vintagely speaking, Minnie didn't wear pink. She wore blue and red and yellow and white, but not traditionally pink.

Later on, only after the iconic red with white stripes, she did start appearing in pink, but usually still mixed with blue or yellow

If I were in charge of this line, I would take out the vintage angle and use all of those colours; white, yellow, red, red with white sequins, blue, pink and maybe even a black and simply call it 'ears'.

Maybe I should get a job working for OPI. I could be their geek consistency consultant.
Will I still buy the pinks? Of course! They're Minnie and Pink!

What do you think about the new line? Let me know.

Hope - An Old Republic Fan Film

Remember this guy from the Old Republic game cinematic? I still haven't played the game, but I still really want to. this is one of the cinematics that made me want to play

Yes, it's still awesome. But you know what's even more awesome? A group of guys decided to make a live action version of this, and they did a really amazing job!

It is in French, but there are subtitles.

They even got people who looked similar, well, except the jedi girl. Maybe they just didn't know as many female Star Wars fans as I do. Still an awesome job though.

Thanks to Distracted By Star Wars and G33kpron for the info

Star Wars Vs. Everything Else

Ever notice that a lot of movies are similar? Think Pocahontas and Avatar; same story, just with large blue people.
Well, people like to compare all sorts of different movies, especially with Star Wars.

The Avengers

(both played by a man who keeps playing the same character with a different name)

What, no Black Widow/Leia kicking ass? sadness :(
I will admit, most of these are pretty uncanny. But it also puts together a great dynamic. If it ain't broke, don't fix it :p

The Lion King

I will never watch these movies the same again! lol!

Thanks to Geek-art and Tiefighters for ruining my brain

Sexy Avenger Pin-up GIFS

Just because...

Thanks to Hawkeye's Little Helper for loving some sexy Avengers

Superheroine Swimsuits!

Now that the weather's finally getting nice, I've started to think about what type of swimsuit that I want for summer. My old one has finally kicked the bucket and I sort of wanted a new one anyway.
There are so many swimsuits out there that it's hard to choose. Since the Star Wars bathing suits are no longer available, I need to find some other geeky apparel to make me happy.
What do I like as much as Star Wars? Superheroes and Superheroines!

3 of my favorite DC heroines now have their own bathing suits on Superhero Stuff!

Batgirl

Supergirl

Wonder Woman

I wish that there was a full bathing suit option as well, but I like the cut away side ones quite a bit, especially the Wonder Woman one (and the Batgirl one)

The other great option that I found for those of us who would prefer a full piece are these great swimsuits from Splish

Aquaman
(or as they call it, Fishchick)

Captain America

Wonder Girl/Mary Marvel?

Okay, so it might not be licensed or spot-on, but I think they're pretty awesome. As much as I love the Cap, being Canadian makes it a bit weird to wear the old red, white and blue and the Wondy/Marvel bathing suit is a strange combination. I think if I got any of these it would be the Aquaman one.

So, if you could own any of these bathing suits, which one would you buy? and which one do you think I should get? I need all the help I can get.

UPDATE:

You can also now buy a TMNT halter bikini top at Spencer's!

Geek And Foody Dresses

I always love when companies make geeky clothes for women. When I came across these TMNT and Power Ranger dresses, I felt like I had been sent back to my childhood.

or at least that my childhood had been mixed with sexy ambitions, which I am totally okay with. Don't get me wrong, I don't seem to remember the Ninja Turtles or Power Rangers posing like that, but that's okay too. I really want the pink ranger dress. Kimberly was always my favorite, or perhaps green, as Tommy was so cool!

Geek things like this are awesome and I can totally understand why they would make them. It's when these tank dresses start going into food products that I start to wonder what they were thinking.

Okay, so candy logos, I can maybe understand that, but they're still pretty weird if you ask me. I'm not sure how I feel about the Nerds dress coming with "nerd" glasses with tape on them...

Let's be honest, would you really want to go outside wearing a dress that says Blow Pop or Tootsie Roll? I can see a lot of really inappropriate comments from jerks about these. They are cute colours though. I like the blue one.

The same goes for Good and Plenty. I mean those licorice candies were kinda gross and that name is just bad!

Hershey's, Twizzlers and Reese's Peanut Butter cups aren't too bad. Nor is the Coke logo.

Cereal? Maybe as a nightgown or something, but again, I'm not sure I'd wear them anywhere

Especially not Ketchup or Mustard.

I guess these are probably all aimed at Halloween, where they can make quick, quirky costumes. I just don't see these as everyday wear. Just me?

If you like these dresses, please ignore me. You can purchase them here.
Thanks to Geekologie who likes girls in turtle dresses.
