Video Game Pulp Novel Covers

Reading is awesome. I especially love when artists pull together 2 things that I love, reading and pop culture. These following video games have been transformed into pulp covers, gorgeous enough that not only do I want to read them, but I'd also like to have them framed and on my wall.

The Metroid one is my favorite! I'd really like to have it framed on my wall. It took me a bit of searching, but I managed to find his Society 6 page where you can purchase them! (well, the Nintendo ones anyway)

These next few are pretty fun as well. Shutterstock got the idea to make these fun romance covers and asked Echo Chernik to use their stock footage as a reference to create these delightful re-imagined romances

The Pac-man one cracks me up and I absolutely ship Ryu & Ken. I didn't realize that anyone could ever make me feel sorry for that  damned Duck Hunt dog, but I stand corrected.

Yeah, that kind of sums up what being a geek is all about. We find things that we love; movies, TV-shows, books from our pasts, and we reminisce about why we love it. We have all sorts of mediums in which we can do this; reading or writing blogs about it, writing fanficton, cosplaying, going to conventions, or in this case, fanart.

  Patrick Ballesteros brings us nostalgia in two different ways in his art collection entitled Nostalgia

Not only does he make us feel nostalgic with pop culture references, but also with the innocence and imagination of childhood.

Tiny weeping angels are perhaps more terrifying than full grown ones. I'm more nostalgic for the 10th Doctor, but 11 had some good moments too. I'm sure in years to come, I'll remember him fondly, too.

Harry Potter nostalgia is already pretty prevalent, but taking them back to a much younger age gives it new meaning.

Did you ever play zombies as a kid?  Cops and robbers? That's what this picture reminds me of.

I love that the parents have the morning "zombie" blahs. I know what that's like now.
I also love that Carl has a target on his back. Very fitting.

Planning of Indiana Jones

Sidewalk chalk was always fun. Heck, it's still fun! I wouldn't be surprised to learn that Spielberg and Lucas use to draw all kinds of crazy pictures on the sidewalk. I like the cute little nods to them; Lucas with the whip and Droids and Spielberg with his shark, UFO and dinosaur.

So how was that trip down memory lane? Feeling better? Feeling sad? It's ok, that's what nostalgia is all about.

The Girly Side Of Star Wars

Being a Star Wars girl has its ups and downs. 

It's sometimes hard to live up to the preconceived notions of what a Star Wars fan should be. I've taken a lot of flack over the years for liking "boy stuff", but I try not to let it bother me. Truth be told, I like a lot of "girly stuff" too.
That's why I love Foreverwars.
Not only does she love Star Wars, Doctor Who and more, she's also an incredible artist. I've been a fan of her art for quite some time now and I'm saving up to buy a bunch of prints and pillows and such from her Society 6 store.

Today I came across a new set of prints that she's put out that mix my love of "boy" and "girl" stuff together!

YAY!!! It's everything I wanted and more!!!
How can you not love that little Gonk girl or want to kick some serious ass for the Adorable Alliance? Death Star Dollies, it sounds like a roller derby team!

Personally, I want to deck out my couch in awesome pillows, including this one

and I think I need to make the Rebel Alliance bow print my new iPhone case. (or maybe the mando skull... who can choose?)

More Star Wars Pin-ups

I love Pin-ups. It's been one of the goals in my life to be one. I would especially love to be a geek pin-up and even more specifically, a Star Wars pin-up.

Art like this from Timothy Lim, gives me hope that people would actually be into this!

I really love the rebel alliance pin-up. It reminds me of some awesome pictures I saw of Katie Cook's

I'm going to have to do this for a con or Halloween before it becomes too mainstream and every girl is doing it!

More Retro-Simplistic Art From The Bear Jedi

Awhile back I posted some awesome Star Wars art by The Bear Jedi.

Well, he's back, but this time with some simplistic, yet mind blowing Avengers and Dr. Who art.

Never have I seen such a beautiful rendition of Captain America's shield. This is totally my iPhone wallpaper right now and I can't stop looking at it!

What a cool way to bring both green and purple together to represent the Hulk, then by using his gamma radiated  DNA

I love Mjölnir and putting it together with the stroke of lightning seems to just call out to the God of Thunder.

May The 4th Be With You

Star Wars Day is here again! YAY!

So, what am I going to do about it? 

Well, besides dressing in Star Wars stuff (t-shirt, underwear, socks, hoodie), I'm planning to watch at least one of the movies, plan out some more SW bags or dresses, peruse some SW websites, of course Talk SW to at least a few people, and blog.

I've been saving some Star Wars content for this day for a little while now. Let's start with this awesome deleted scene

I love the tension between the 2 of them.  Man, if Han Solo offered to warm me up, I don't think I could say no!

These next pictures are from an Ad agency, BleuBlachRouge, in Montreal, for a Star Wars exhibit! If I had known (and not been in South Korea) I might have hopped on a bus and gone! 

I love how they've build each character! These artists really know what they're doing!
