Star Wars Forces of Destiny

There’s never been an all-star lineup like this in any galaxy.

Rey, Ahsoka Tano, Jyn Erso, Princess Leia, Sabine Wren, and other icons of a galaxy far, far away will take center stage in Star Wars Forces of Destiny — a new animated micro-series and initiative celebrating some of Star Wars‘ most beloved and inspirational characters. Announced by Disney and Lucasfilm today, Star Wars Forces of Destiny launches in July with a series of animated shorts (2-3 minutes each) on Disney YouTube, exploring all-new adventures of the fan-favorites. A two-part TV special featuring eight additional shorts will follow on Disney Channel in fall 2017. Significantly, Daisy Ridley (Rey), Felicity Jones (Jyn Erso), Tiya Sircar (Sabine Wren), Ashley Eckstein (Ahsoka Tano), and Lupita Nyong’o (Maz Kanata, narrating the series) will all reprise their roles for the show. Developed by Lucasfilm Animation, Star Wars Forces of Destiny will remain true to the Star Wars canon, showing how choices both big and small ultimately shape the destinies of beloved characters. - Starwars.com

Like DC Superhero Girls, Disney has finally gotten the hint that girls like Star Wars too!

Not only will they be featuring shorts on these amazing Galactic Ladies, but the merchandising is going to be awesome!

Books! Books about Star Wars girls!! I'm so excited!

But I'm not going to lie, I'm mostly excited for the dolls!

Just look at this all-star lineup! 

I can't wait to add these to my collection of Star Wars dolls. They will look so good with my multi-Padmes and Leia

I'm so excited for this next generation of girls who are growing up with these. Now they can save the galaxy without having to make their own dolls have Leia buns. Let us bring up more strong woman who want to save the Galaxy

Celebration Europe - Episode IV

Celebration Europe 2 blog report- 28th July 2013
 

Well here we are, the final day of an absolutely awesome weekend. I have to say the atmosphere has been incredible. Thousands of people from around the world gathered in one place to share their passion for Star Wars






Once again there were shows on, chats with stars of the films, and events for people to get involved in. Along with artists selling prints and hand drawn items there was a row of tattoo artists plying their trade and allowing people to show their love of Star Wars in a rather permanent way

Today was more packed than usual as everyone took advantage of the last day of the con. There were families with children, and even an expectant mother dressed as Padme Amidala from Episode II. Sadly she informed me she wasn't having twins.



In the Grugahalle Warwick Davies was entertaining the Fett-tastic Four. Daniel Logan, Jeremy Bulloch (who turned up dressed in his 501st Boba Fett costume),Dickey Beer and John Morten talkied about what it was like to play the baddest Bounty Hunter in the galaxy



Whilst all this was going on there were other activities going on including being shown how to build your own droid, hosted by the R2D2 Builders Club and a trivia competition where the public were able to compete for the right to be called Worlds Most Knowledgeable Fan.





Throughout the weekend there had been various activities, far too many to go to all at once. Everything from collectors seminars to costuming to Star Wars around the world, there was something for everyone.





So then we came to the last show of the day, and they'd saved the best for last. Everyone met inside the Grugahalle to see Mark Hamill, Luke Skywalker himself, take the stage. Mark talked about his role in Star Wars, looking forward to what the future will bring, and regaled the audience with anecdotes including the fact he recorded a voiceover for an unaired episode of the Clone Wars and also revealed he thought that Luke was only going to hit the Wampa a glancing blow in ESB but only found out in Post Production that they had decided to cut its whole arm off. Poor Wampa!



And then that was it. We had the closing ceremony where we all got to look back at an amazing Celebration Europe and where it was announced that that Celebration VII would be coming to Anaheim, California!!

That's right folks, put the date in your diary. 16th to 19th April 2015, with tickets going on sale 8th August this year





And that was it. I said goodbye to a lot of people who I met and headed back to my hotel room tired but happy. This was my first Celebration and I expected it to be my last but after experiencing such an indescribable atmosphere I'll definitely be going to Anaheim in 2015. I hope I'll see you there

Wow! What an ending. I'm sad that it's over. I think I could happily live vicariously through Caelien forever. These last few days have been fun for me, getting updates and pictures while everything is going on. It was almost as if I were there instead of at work photocopying (a girl can dream...) Maybe if I dream big and manage to save some money I can meet up with him a Celebration VII in a few years. If not, hopefully he will grace this blog once again for another great, first hand look at the World Of Star Wars cons.

Hyperspace Hoopla - Dance-Off With The Star Wars Stars

Every year when the Disney Star Wars Weekends come around, I tell myself that I'm going to save my pennies and go next year (not that it'll do me good, since we Canadians are getting rid of pennies, but you get what I mean)

There are always awesome things happening, like Her Universe releasing a new line of clothes, tons of celebrity guests and, of course, The Hyperspace Hoopla!

Yes, Hyperspace Hoopla. I love watching the Star Wars characters dance it out like there's no tomorrow. I watch these every year and I'm never disappointing. This year was no exception.

Can I just say how much I love the dance off between Darth Vader and Padme?

Fantastically done! We all know what a rocky history these two love birds have and I think their choices of songs were well done.

 The only thing I didn't like about the show was the way the women danced. I know, I know, there's nothing wrong with dancing all sexy, but it really did seem to be all that they were doing.

It was kind of unnecessary. I mean, really, there are kids there.

It seemed like pretty much any time they were up front on the stage, they were shaking their asses at the audience or bending down, seductively in front of  one of the men. Except for Ahsoka, thank goodness for that, she's not even legal.
 The women in Star Wars have always been so strong. This just sexualized them and didn't really give them any purpose besides that.
Come to think of it, they were all pretty much just glorified back up dancers for the most part...

Well, despite all that, it was still a hell of a show, wasn't it?

With the talk of Disney (maybe, possibly?) building a Star Wars theme park in the future, I would imagine that they would have these shows all year round and not just on occasional summer weekends.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see. As for me, I'm going to save my nickles and dimes up so I can maybe attend next year.

New Halloween Costumes

It's April, and you know what that means?

It's time to start thinking about Halloween! Or at least Con season.

I always find it strange that new Halloween costumes start coming out in April. Seems a bit early to me. But I guess one can never be too prepared.

Plus, more Star Wars costumes for women! YAY!  

They're not just Star Wars and they're mot just for women, but I like that I'm the target audience for most of these.

Star Wars

I love this new Darth Talon costume. Well, except for the weird inflatable head piece. That thing's strange...  The rest of the costume is pretty good, though.

I'm happy that they went with the more adult Ahsoka Tano look. It's easier to paint your arms and face orange than the whole top of your body. If you're going for authenticity, that is.

I'm not sure how I feel about the whole sexy, Femtrooper look. Ok, it's not that. I've never really felt the appeal of dressing as a Stormtrooper, but if I did, I'd want my armor to look less plastic-y.

These next ones seem to be causing some controversy and I can understand why

I, however, LOVE THEM! (don't judge me) 

I know, I know, what's with the weird skintight schoolgirl look? Why not just give women normal costumes that actually fit us properly instead of these weird hybrid outfits?

I don't care. I want them all! Especially the X-Wing Pilot, promptly followed by the Darth Vader, Boba Fett and then the Stormtrooper!

The one thing I really don't get about these costumes are the toques. They seem kind of out of place. They're awesome, (except for the Boba Fett one. It's totally lame) but don't match the costumes at all. They'd be better off selling them separately. 

Also, I would totally wear these shoes with the Boba Fett one. Perfect, right?

 

You thought those costumes were weird? Here are the really strange ones, and they're not even aimed at women! (although women could still wear them, these are actually aimed at men)

Be warned. What is seen cannot be unseen

yeah.... I warned you.

Now, there's nothing wrong with these per-say, (except for the Chewbacca one. That thing is terrifying) and if you're into this sort of thing, all the power to you. 

I have pretty awesome body confidence, but even I wouldn't feel comfortable in these. Add a ruffly skirt to it and then we can talk ;)

The Darth Maul one would work really well with a pair of black pants over top and glued on horns, making it the most realistic of the 3 costumes. I don't have any suggestions for the Darth Vader or Boba Fett ones, though.

My final thought on these is this; what type of shoes do men wear with skin tight, Star Wars costumes? Ponder it and let me know what you come up with.

Comics

aka Batman Villains

The Riddler and The Joker are the first marketed costumes I've ever seen for cross-play. I kinda like it. Well, I like the Riddler dominatrix outfit. It even comes with it's own riding crop?

The Joker outfit, on the other hand, is pretty terrible. Had it not been for the green wig, I don't think I would've figured out if who it was suppose to be.

 

Want to be Harley Quinn? Who doesn't? The thing about that is that she's beginning to be played out. So how can you breath new life into her? By making her Sexy

No? How about by being Arkhan Assylum Harley Quinn?

Still to played out? How about Arkham City Harley Quinn?

Still not feeling it? How about Harlequin one that's doing it's best to be Harley Quin without actually being Harley Quinn?

One small rant about these pictures.... Why do they all look as if they've been crying? Are they crying because they're bad? I don't really know what the make-up people were thinking with this look.

Muppets

Like the Star Wars dresses, these are a little odd, but super cute! I would wear the Kermit one and the Animal one all the time! I love the ears that come with Miss Piggy's dress, and the bangles that come with Animal's are divine! My favorite accessory is The Fozzy neck-tie/belt! What a super cute idea!

80's Fun

The She-Ra outfit isn't new, but I still really love it. I would totally love to dress up as her. She was one of my hero's growing up, as well as Cheetara. The wig is kinda horrible, but that just makes me like it more. This costume does seem to be lacking some spots, but those could easily be added on later.

Now, this last one isn't really 80's, other that I remember it from then.

I do, but not like this...

 I know I've done dresses like this before, but this one is just weird and kind of creepy, especially compared to the men's costume. I can just imagine the inappropriate comments about it, especially with that lick-a-stick...
