Tunage Tuesday - Disney Medleys

Today seems like a Disney kinda day. Maybe I'm feeling nostalgic, but I just want to sit in front of the TV and pop VHS after VHS into the VCR and watch my childhood again.

Well, since I don't own a VCR or most of these on DVD, I guess watching medley videos of the music will have to do.

We'll start off with an old TSWTM favorite; Peter Hollens
Like usual, he's teamed up with a host of lovely ladies with lovely voices for these epic medleys

Now that we've done our heroes, how about some villains?

Next up we have Georgia Merry who brings us some epic Princess Medleys

I'm always impressed with these videos. I can't even imagine trying to figure out how to make these work.

I'm feeling better. How about you?

Tunage Tuesday - Will It Sad?

Ever wonder what your favorite songs would sound like in a minor key? YAOG has and he's discovered that it makes those songs sound sad.
It's amazing the difference in sound. Just take a listen

I'm not crying, you're crying...

These should be the losing screen songs.

Who knew that a minor key and slowing it down could take annoying songs and make them sound so much better? That seems to be the case with the next two

What about older stuff that we all know and love?

it's actually pretty amazing!

Now, if all this has gotten you down, I will end on a happier note. It seems you can do the opposite and make songs sound happier. Hopefully this will cheer you back up.

Tunage Tuesday - Fan.tasia

Every once and a while, something magical happens...
Okay, so maybe it's not magic, but just incredible editing skills. Sometimes it's hard to tell the difference. As is the case with this amazing video by Lindsay McCutcheon

I can't even begin to imagine how long that took to put together. It boggles my mind!
It's gotta be magic

I Am One With The 4th The 4th Is With Me

art by Obvian
It's Star Wars Day!!!!
May the 4th Be With You!

I love Star Wars Day. I get to brake out all my Star Wars clothes and accessories (not that I need an excuse), pull out my DVD's (also don't need an excuse) and just totally submerse myself in all the glory of my favorite fandom.

It's exciting that this year also marks the 40th anniversary of A New Hope and the beginning of all this worldwide craziness.

It's amazing that a small movie made 40 years ago has touched so many people and continues to inspire us and new generations with each new edition to the ever expanding Universe.

On a sad note, Carrie Fisher is not here this year to celebrate with us. It's been hard on the community but we continue to celebrate her life and the affect she's had on us all. And we know if she were here, she'd want us to be covered in glitter

In Memoriam here is a beautiful rendition of Princess Leia's theme performed by Player Piano

I've got my glitter on, do you?

And this Star Wars Day, I think you deserve to treat yourself
How about with this awesome Box Lunch pendant?

That's right, this Death Star locket contains the hidden secret plans inside!! Thanks to Kessel Runway for this awesome find!

I'm off to watch some Star Wars, but remember, keep Star Wars with you all through the year and everyday can be Star Wars day @._.@

Tunage Tuesday - Sailor Moon Videos

art by Daekazu

I've been on a bit of a Sailor Moon kick recently (okay, I'm always on a Sailor Moon kick) and I fell down the rabbit hole of YouTube one day and came across all these awesome videos, so I thought I'd share.

I love this video by Wildcats. It very much sums up Tuxedo Mask in the funniest way possible. Does he ever help? Not really. He's usually just there for encouragement.

art by Arcade Quartermaster

Moonage Kingdom is an awesome group of Burlesque Dancers who were putting on a Sailor Moon Burlesque show in Vancouver. They made this amazing video as a promo for it. Man, I wish I could've seen the show

Cartoon Hangover gives us 107 facts that you may or may not have known about Sailor Moon

Animation Domination High-Def made this sad video about Sailor Pluto not being a planet anymore. It makes me laugh but makes me sad at the same time

These 2 great videos by Moon Animation Make-Up are the collaboration of many different artists redoing the stills to old Sailor Moon cartoons in their own style. They are incredible!

This is a fun cosplay video by JDP Media where the Scouts take on Sailor Iron Mouse and her snapping Goons. Yes, it's that good.

I've featured Saturday Morning Slow Jams on here before, but here is their take on the Sailor Moon theme song

Or maybe you're more into the classical take on Sailor Moon music like SERASYMPHONY produces.

I love this rule 63 cosplay video by Paolo Tuci. Just goes to show you that Sailor Moon is for everyone

I don't even know what to say about this video from STREETSTAR 2013 other than you need to watch it NOW!

So, have you had your Sailor fill for the day?

Thanks to fuck ya pretty soldiers for sending me down this moon rabbit hole

Tunage Tuesday - Lindsay Sterling

I'm sure you all remember Lindsay Sterling. She's pretty much the reason that I started Tunage Tuesday. She's a wiz on violin and an amazing dancer and her videos are always incredible!

Here are some new videos for you to enjoy

First up, the Spiderman movie theme featuring Lang Lang

Wasn't that gorgeous?

This next one is called Heist and has a great video game theme

I would totally play that game, especially if it had that killer soundtrack

This next one, featuring ZZ Ward, has a great Alice in Wonderland theme to it. I love the song and the video so much!

This last one is much more fun and poppy called Prism.

Is is making fun of our favourite pop culture icons or just paying homage to them? I'll let you decide
Either way, it's super fun!

Hopefully she will keep making these awesome videos in the future, because I will keep sharing them.

Tunage Tuesday - PlayerPiano

It's Tuesday again and I've got some killer piano tunes for you today from none other than PlayerPiano

You may remember this lovely lady from other videos such as the Star Wars Duels or Because You Can Never Have Too Much Geek Music, known for her geeky pianos and awesome cosplay

First up we have a great Tomb Raider Medley that spans 20 years of gameplay. This video has lots of costumes and set changes which makes me very happy

And if you didn't think her playing in the rain was great, check out her costumes changes as she regenerates through all of the Doctors in this Doctor Who theme

That was incredible!
But wait until you see this Nintendo piano! It even has the cords! Be still my heart!

So, did she take you through a jouney of pop culture? I know I was swept away.

Thanks to Nerd Approved who knows a great song when they hear one

Tunage Tuesday - Cowboy Pat

Celebrities come in all shapes and sizes, some we love, some we love to hate, and some go beyond our wildest expectations and give us great things.
I'm sure you all love Patrick Stewart. I mean, who doesn't? But this makes me love him even more.

Introducing Cowboy Pat!

Yes, that was just Patrick Stewart singing cowboy songs. And what's even better, is that you can buy the album for realsies at cdbaby. I know that seems weird, but it helps to know that all the proceeds from this silly album goes to the International Rescue Committee. As if we needed more of a reason to love this man.

Thanks to Nerd Approved who knows all the lyrics off by heart already.

Tunage Tuesday - Star Wars Duels

art by SoniaMatas

I'm sure like me, you are all still on a Star Wars kick after the release of The Force Awakens.
I love the ever present story of light vs. dark and the battles that come with it.

Well, today we are going to appreciate some of those duels in Musical form. So sit back and enjoy and cheer for your preferred side.

First Up, we have Taylor Davis vs. herself in this amazing violin medley

The Amazing people over at Player Piano have put together a beautiful medley, as well as these awesome SW pianos. It's a long video but totally worth watching

Kuma Films brings us this amazing video of how both the dark side and the light side train with lightsabers. It's very impressive

This is the Fencing Senior World Championships Moscow 2015 where these 2 jedi really show off their skills. Amazing!

Okay, back to music, here is a great video from Jimmy Fallon, The Roots & The Force Awakens Cast! It's really amazing!

And just because it's adorable, here is Oscar Issac doing a cover of Bill Murray's Star Wars theme

May the Force be with you no matter what side you choose

Thanks to Fashionably Geek & Betty Felon for these great numbers

Tunage Tuesday - Pure Imagination

Come with me... and you'll be...
in a World of pure imagination....

I always loved that song from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, but I love it even more with Lindsey Stirling, Josh Groban and the Muppets involved

Wasn't that wonderful? Are you going to have that song stuck in your head for the rest of the day?

If that's a bad thing, trying having the Pokemon theme stuck in there instead, also preformed by Lindsay Sterling

you know how much I love me some Lindsay Sterling

Still not what you want? How about we go back to the Muppets theme and chack out some Ben Folds Five featuring Fraggle Rock?

Yup, an awesome combination made of pure imagination!

Thanks to Never Too Old To Love Muppets and Muppet Mayhem for always loving some Muppets

Tunage Tuesday - The Last Unicorn

The Last Unicorn is probably my favorite piece of media. From what started out as a love of the movie when I was a child, became so much more when I discovered that it was based on a book.
The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle is a beautiful masterpiece that I go back to over and over again in my life.

Every incarnation of it has found a place in my heart and it remains one of my favorite books, favorite movies, favorite graphic novels and has one of my favorite songs in it.
Obviously I'm not the only person who has fallen in love with the music from the movie.

Dan Avidan and Brian Wecht decided to do this beautiful cover of the opening song

I was so excited when I heard that Peter S. Beagle was doing a tour of North America with the movie, now that he has the rights back, and horrified when I found out that it had already come to Toronto and I had missed it :(

art by Amaltheas
Here is another version of the same song by Ashley Serena feat. Karliene

Absolutely gorgeous

art by Potato Farm Girl

And, of course, there is my favorite song, perhaps of all times, played by Eddie Patin

How can you not love this love song that Lir sings to Amalthea

art by Stella B

Here is the original version of the song, if you're interested

If you haven't checked out The Last Unicorn yet, I highly recommend you grab the book, movie and the graphic novel. They are worth it

That's all I have to tell you... That's all I've got to say

So, now that you've seen the video, here it is without the music. It's pretty spectacular

Tunage Tuesday - Doctor Who Edition

Knock, Knock! Who's There?
Doctor
Doctor Who?
Yes, you're correct.

It's Tuesday! This week I will be focusing on Doctor Who music (okay, mostly the theme song)
and I've found some great videos for you!

First we have The Time Warp by Hillywood

Is this not adorable? It's really well put together. Hilly Hindi amazing and super convincing as the Doctor. The guy that did the voice for the Doctor is pretty amazing as well.
I've included the Behind the Scenes video as well, although it is super long.

Next up we have a few different renditions of the Doctor Who theme

The Human Tim rocks us out with his electric guitar

And The Doubleclicks  rocking out on Cello

I love the cello case spinning across the screen!

And just for fun...

Timey Wimey...
Anime Doctor Who!

Oh man! This is just sooo awesome! Thanks Nerdist!
I love the creepy Doctor, the sensible Rory and the nose bleeding Amy!

Tunage Tuesday - Star Wars Edition

Hey all! It's Tunage Tuesday! This week I've found some fun Star Wars tunes for you!

First off, we have Jason Munday with "Ready For Anything"

I love this song so much I actually bought it on iTunes

Next up is Teddie Films parody "Bandolier"

How phenomenal was that?
If you are super confused about the video, check out the original. It'll make more sense

Even better, check them out side by side to see how well done they are

Impressive

Okay, so I spend a few hours looking for more Star Wars music videos, but I had either already posted them in the past or they were really, really bad. Guess we'll just have to stick with these 2 this week

Tunage Tuesday

Hey all

It's week 2 of Tunage Tuesday! Yes, I'm actually going to try and do this every week!
Wish me luck

First off, we're going to start with a favorite of mine; Lindsay Sterling!
This time she's doing a beautiful cover of the Child of Light main theme.

This is so gorgeous! If you haven't played Child of Light yet, do yourself a favor and get it. It's amazing! Go on.... you know you want to.

One of the things that I love about her music and videos is that she is always teaming up with other amazing artist. This time it's Pentatonix with their cover of one of my favorite songs Radioactive

In case you actually don't know this song, here's the original

Just so you know, I've been assured that Imagine Dragons do not support illegal Puppet Ring fights.

Anyhoo, back to the music, Since I had never heard of Pentatonix, I checked out their YouTube page and came across this really well done medley

I do love a group that can harmonize, and these guys are awesome!

So, that's it for this week of fun Tunage. What did you think?

Tuneage Tuesday

You know how much I love featuring awesome videos of geek music, so I thought that instead of putting them all into 1 really long post every few months, I'd start doing a weekly post with a few of the best songs and videos that I have found.

So here we are with week one!

This song by Kate Micucci and Tony Thaxton will cheer you up on any bad day

Because it's true; puppets do understand

This amazing girl from Armenian named of Victoria Hovhannisyan appeared on Russia’s version of The Voice.

She can actually sing Diva Plavalaguna's song from The Fifth Element, you know, this one

It's still my favorite part of that movie.
Just listen and be amazed

This last song is an actual music video, but it's so cute, I couldn't leave it out.
George Ezra invited Sir Ian McKellen to be in his video and he does everything he can to outshine the singer. It's quite adorable

I'm not sure what I like watching more in this video, Sir Ian dancing or George's pretty lips....
Either way, this geek is happy

Thanks to Nerd Approved for all the tips
