The Best Star Wars Christmas Gift EVER!!!

I love Star Wars, as you know, but my family thinks that's strange.
I'm pretty sure they think it's a phase or something.
When I say proudly that I'm a geek, they look at me in horror and ask why I would call my self such, as if I had just called myself something horrible. I laugh and try to explain it, but I don't think they get it still.
Don't get me wrong, they're always encouraging of my baking and sewing, my love of reading and writing, they just don't get Star Wars. I can understand that. There are a lot of things I don't get about them.

As such, I've never received a Star Wars gift at Christmas...
UNTIL NOW!
My 6 year old niece, with the help of my sister, made me these for Christmas! Aren't they fantastic!!
Best Star Wars Gift EVER!!!!

Thanks guys! I love them soooo much!

Geeky Winter Wonderland

Tis the season once again. I haven't been in much of a Christmas mood lately, but this may be due to the fact that there is no snow yet. I should be getting use to green Toronto winters, but as far as Christmas is concerned, there should always be at least a little.

These winter/Christmas geek picutres by JoannaJohnan help me feel a lot better. Thanks Joanna.

I very much want to make that Stargate wreath! What a cute idea!!

So may your days be geeky and bright
and may all your Christmases be white

Geeky Christmas Stockings

I realized the other day that it's already December and that means that Christmas is really, really soon.
I am totally not prepared, how about you?

Have you finished all of your shopping or do you still have to buy for the geek in your life?
Have stuff for stockings, but can't find the right sock?

Well, try these on for size

Aren't they super cute? Whether Hero or Villain, who wouldn't be happy to find one of these hung by the fire with care? You can get one of these or many other designs at the Super Sox Shop.

Thanks to Geeks With Curves, who knows an awesome Sock when she sees one.

How Not To Play Final Fantasy VIII

Final Fantasy VIII is one of my all time favorite games.
I know, I know, most people don't agree with me, but I don't care. It was the first RPG I ever played through on my own and holds a special place in my heart. I've played it through probably 6 or 7 times between my old PS and my PSP.
It contains some of my favorite kick-ass female villains, especially Edea.

I remember when this game came out and I was just getting into video games; the graphics were top of the line and everyone was super impressed with how the characters moved.

I mean, who didn't love running these characters in circles?

"This video was filmed at Anime Evolution in 2008. The footage from this skit got lost over the years and was just found recently. Unfortunately, some clips were lost for good (Irvine's intro and the running into the invisible walls that so commonly spite you in FF games). The point of this video was purely to make fun of the sillier aspects of the game- like Zell's obsession with "hot dogs", Rinoa's uselessness and the fact that all of the characters followed you around.
Our friend Will jumped in randomly so the boss battle at the end was unplanned. He just put Timcampy on his head and Final Fantasy "bounced" in front of us XD
Who knows, maybe we will try filming something like this again- only better, but for now- enjoy the crack.

Twinfools as Squall
Bramarb as Zell
kolibri as Quistis
Nova as Rinoa
Valdrein as Irvine
Will as Boss Battle Baddie

Clips and music from Final Fantasy VIII"

I laughed so hard when I saw this. My first thoughts were:
1) Squall isn't that social
2) Oh, Zell and his hot dogs
3)  Wait... you can't have more than 3 people in your party at once
4) OMG Rinoa's dead before the battle even started, how appropriate
5) Oh, confuse... I hate you.

Then I thought of these guys and remembered how terrified I was on running into them in any other Final game, never to have them be quite so evil as they were in VIII

Thanks to Eric, for not only introducing me to video games and Final Fantasy, but also for this clip.

What Do You Think About Disney Buying Star Wars?

Since Disney bought Star Wars, people have been talking about it non-stop. And who can blame them, it's pretty huge news. Everyone seems to have questions and concerns about it, but I think Batman sums it up best.

Poor Robin... That kid never gets a break.

Hello Kitty Star Wars

In the wake of Disney's announcement that it's buying the Star Wars/Indiana Jones franchises, people have been going crazy doing Disney/SW mash-ups. So much so that it's becoming a little crazy.
So today I thought I would give you a mash up on another kind; equally as rediculous.

Star Wars and Hello Kitty

Yes, It's been done in weird and crazy ways, but what I didn't know was that years ago, when Hello Kitty had it's own cartoon, that they actually did do a mash up.

It's pretty hilarious actually. I love that they got to the cantina/ice cream parlor and instead of chopping off arms, Obi Cat-Nobi throws ice cream at him.
Oh, what the power of the Fur can do....

Did you recognize all the voices from your childhood? Darth Catnip was the same voice as Penny from Inspector Gadget and I recognized the voice of the little C-DogPO thing, but I can't place from where.... Any ideas?

And remember, the Fur will be with you, always

Disney To Buy Star Wars!

Yes, you read that right. Disney, who I have been a long time fan of, is buying out my favorite franchise!!!

"Walt Disney Co has agreed to buy filmmaker George Lucas's Lucasfilm Ltd and the "Star Wars" franchise for $4.05 billion in cash and stock, a blockbuster deal that includes the surprise promise of a new film in the series in 2015.

Disney Chief Executive Bob Iger, in prepared remarks for analysts, said the plan was to release a new movie in the series every two to three years thereafter. The last "Star Wars" picture was "Revenge of the Sith" in 2005, and Lucas has in past denied any plans for more.

Lucas, a Hollywood icon known for exercising control over the most minute details of the fictional universe he created, will remain as a creative consultant on the new films." - Reuters

I'm not sure if I came across excited on not. To be honest, I'm not sure how I feel about this entire thing. I'm hoping that if they're going to make more movies that they will go for the Thraw Trilogy. I for sure don't want to see the whole franchise rebooted. That would break my heart.
I'm a Disney kid at heart, so I'm going to put my faith in them and hope for the best.

Disney has had a lot to do with SW in the past, with rides at Disney World and, of course, Star Wars Weekends and Star Wars Celebration. It's things like these that calm the knots in my stomach.

Also, on a side note, Disney will also have the rights to Indiana Jones as well. After the last movie, Disney can only do good things with these.

So, what do you think about all of this? Are you as conflicted as I am?
Comment and let me know

Thanks to Adam for Talking Star Wars (and Disney) To Me

Halloween Costumes For Girls At Different Ages

Halloween is one of my favorites days of the year. I love spending hours trying to come up with the perfect costume, until I finally decide what I want to be each year. Some years I've made my costume (like this year) and some years I go out and buy one.

If you're buying a costume for yourself a girl/woman in your life, you've got lots of choices. And luckily costumes come in different sizes for different ages.
Check it out

Angel

Awww... how cute!

uhh... not so cute...

Bee

Cat

Anyone else starting to see a trend here?

Devil

Dorothy

Oh God! What have you done to Dorothy? And Minnie? That's just cruel!

Minnie Mouse

Nurse

I don't this that's sanitary for a hospital....

Pirate

Unicorn

Witch

Umm... wow

Now don't get me wrong, I have nothing against sexy costumes. I like to add a bit of sex appeal to my own, so who am I to judge?
These are a little extreme though and obviously the comparison was meant to be extreme. I think these adult costumes are meant more for at home then out on the street, but again, to each their own.
I suppose it's nice to know that some costume ideas are for every age.

Thanks to Adam for showing me these and making me laugh so hard that I snorted.
