The Spy Who Painted My Nails

Bond, James Bond...

International man of mystery, protagonist of over 50 novels, the star of 23 films and the center of the new OPI nail polish line.

Yes, you read that right. Bond has always had impeccable taste in clothes and style, so I suppose that OPI is trying to bring that style to us Bond-Girl Wannabes.

This I am totally ok with. I have always secretly dreamed of being a Bond-Girl (as I've mentioned before) Any incarnation of Bond will do for me, but I must say, I have a soft spot for Sean Connery as Mr. Bond.

Can you blame me?

so, what type of nail polish is being released by OPI for the upcoming Skyfall release? Will they have punny names like the previous lines that I've featured on here?

No, actually. These are named after the movies themselves.

The Spy Who Loved Me, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service, Live and Let Die, The World Is Not Enough, You Only Live Twice and Moonraker

Skyfall, Casino Royale, Tomorrow Never Dies, Die Another Day, Goldeneye and The Living Daylights

and for those of us who have richer tastes, just like the man himself, there is a 18k gold nail polish with the apt name of The Man With The Golden Gun, although Goldfinger might have been a better choice, concidering.

As usual, I want all of them. Well, maybe not the gold one. It's a little too rich for my taste or at least my pocket book at $38 a bottle.

So, what do you think? Are you willing to go Gold for Bond?

Minnie Mouse Nails It

One of my role models has always been Minnie Mouse. I love her charm and smile, her unconditional love and optimism, her kindness and hope. She's everything that I've always wanted to be; well, except maybe a mouse.

When I was a kid, I thought that because I have a widow's peak and so did she, that meant that maybe we were somehow related.
In second grade, my awesome Mom made me a Minnie Mouse dress, that I'm pretty sure I didn't take off until I outgrew it. I'm wearing it even for my class picture that year. I've actually been thinking about remaking that dress, but in a bigger size, so that I once again can wear it.
The following year, Minnie Mouse came to my birthday party! There are very few times in my life that I have been that excited.

When I interviewed at the Disney Store a few years back, when the question of who your favorite character was, everyone else just said the names of theirs. I told a story about how and why I loved Minnie Mouse. While I worked there, I was often wearing Minnie Ears and usually had a Minnie shirt on under my work shirt.

I even had a Minnie Mouse cookbook growing up. It helped my fall in live with baking.
My plan for another tattoo is Minnie Mouse's bow (red with white polka dots) on my wrist, to remind me to be a good person and always believe in Magic.

Anyway, the reason for this post, before I got all sentimental on you, was that OPI is releasing a Vintage Minnie Mouse nail polish line! YAY!

From left to right; Nothin' Mousie 'Bout It, I'm All Ears, If You Moust You Moust, and The Color of Minnie.

I love all the colours, or perhaps it's better to say, the variations of pink. I love pink, but I'm a little shocked that they only used pink. Vintagely speaking, Minnie didn't wear pink. She wore blue and red and yellow and white, but not traditionally pink.

Later on, only after the iconic red with white stripes, she did start appearing in pink, but usually still mixed with blue or yellow

If I were in charge of this line, I would take out the vintage angle and use all of those colours; white, yellow, red, red with white sequins, blue, pink and maybe even a black and simply call it 'ears'.

Maybe I should get a job working for OPI. I could be their geek consistency consultant.
Will I still buy the pinks? Of course! They're Minnie and Pink!

What do you think about the new line? Let me know.
Thanks to Stellar Four for the awesome info.

Spiderman Nail Polish Line

Spiderman, Spiderman
paint my nails like Spiderman
they have lots of funky colours
there is even one that shatters
come look!
my nails are Spiderman!

Ok, ok, so I'm not really good at making up songs, but you get the point. While most of us look forward to the upcoming movie and subsequential merchandise aimed mostly at boys and men, we geek girls do get one awesome addition; Spiderman nail polish.

Now I've blogged about nail polish before and that isn't likely to stop any time soon as long as they keep putting out awesome character related colours. There's something just cool about wearing nail polish that corresponds to your favorite character, without having to always wear graphic t-shirts. Right now, my go to colour of nail polish is called Animal-istic and it's based on Animal from the Muppets. I was very disappointment when the Hunger Games nail polish was released, due to crappy names and crappy colours, so when OPI (my favorite nail polish company) released the names of their new Spiderman polish, my faith in pop culture nail polish was renewed.

Ok, so here's what I think about the actual colours;

Your Web Or Mine - I love the pink colour, but I kind of wish it was red solely for the fact that I would like a Spiderman red, a colour that really represents him.
Into The Night - midnight blue is a lovely colour especially for those creepy crawelers who only come out at night.
Call Me Gwen-ever - Although I love the colour and the name, I would've gone with a more traditional Gwen colour like purple or green
Just Spotted The Lizard - A perfect villian inspired colour for the Lizard, but what am I ever going to wear it with?
My Boyfriend Scales Walls - I love a good white polish, but I kind of wish this was a shatter polish. I think it would look kind of like webbing on your nails.
Number One Nemesis - A good gunmetal grey is so hard to find. What it has to do with Spiderman? I guess there could be another villian crammed into the movie somewhere?
Shatter The Scales - (not pictured) A shattering polish, I guess to give the look of the Lizard's hide, but in all the pictures it looks black. I thought maybe it would give that web costume look.

Will I be buying these? YES! Maybe not all of them, but probably most of them. They will make a fine addition to my awesome nail polish collection when they are released in May. Until then, I will keep on wearing my Kermit nail polish.

Thanks to Fashion Tips From Comic Strips and Fashionably Geeky for sharing my geek polish love
